Samsung designed the GALAXY Note 3 smartphone and GALAXY Gear smart to make it easier to be creative. To support the launch of these products, we launched ‘The Shoot’ and set a challenge: recruit 10 young filmmakers to create a short film in less than one week, worthy of a gala premiere at the Sydney Opera House.
Through a competition that ran in print, social and online, we recruited 10 up-and-coming young creative Australians. They spent six days working with NIDA to create a short film, using the GALAXY Note 3 and Gear as tools to help the creative process. And along the way, they were mentored by top film industry pros, including star director Baz Luhrmann.
The campaign led and executed by Edelman generated huge results, both with the media and the target audience of 18-24 year olds. PR activity resulted in more than 31 million impressions being generated globally. The Shoot video content received more than 1.7 million views on YouTube, with several videos trending in the top 10 videos nationally amongst our target age group.
