Amanda Little

Managing Director, Australia

During her 20 years in the public relations industry, Amanda has worked in a range of senior client facing, business development and management roles and helping clients build and manage their corporate profile and reputation.

After graduating from the University of Technology, Sydney as Student of the Year with a Bachelor of Arts (Communications), Amanda spent a decade with Burson-Marsteller (B-M) in both Sydney and Canberra with her final position being Director of Issues Management, Australia.

Amanda spent two years managing her own firm, Intermedia Consulting in Canberra before joining Hill & Knowlton in Sydney as Director, Public Affairs. In 1998 Amanda was appointed Managing Director of Hill & Knowlton Australia.  

Amanda joined PPR in 2004 as Group Director, Healthcare. In late 2005, Amanda transferred to the role of Marketing Manager for the North of England Inward Investment Agency, (a client of PPR) where she oversaw the Northern Way promotion, an integrated advertising, marketing and public relations program, which focused on attracting investment from Australian companies into the North of England.

David McCarthy

Managing Director, Melbourne

David McCarthy has more than 20 years experience in strategic communications counsel in Europe, Asia and Australia, and is a specialist in corporate and healthcare communications.

Prior to joining Edelman, David was head of corporate communications for Telstra Corporation, where he led the Corporate Affairs team responsible for CEO and corporate reputation management. During this period, David instigated company wide reputation measurement and tracking, CEO and senior executive positioning programs and a centralised issues management approach for Australia's largest corporation.

He was also responsible for communications surrounding Telstra's role in the T3 privatisation debate, and drove key message research and development as the basis for successful issues management as a standard Telstra modus operandi.

David was previously Chairman of Burson-Marsteller's Asia Pacific healthcare practice based in Singapore, and held other senior management roles within that company in London and Melbourne.

Helen Paynter

Director, Healthcare Communications

Helen Paynter has extensive experience in public relations and marketing in a broad range of fields including healthcare, the environment and the arts. She currently leads Edelman’s specialist healthcare communications team in Australia.

Throughout her career, Helen has developed and implemented successful launches and maintenance programs for a variety of products involving media relations, issues management and development of third party relationships.

She is responsible for developing and managing relationships with key opinion leaders and working with them on an ongoing basis to promote key messages to the broader community.

Helen has worked in the area of issues management for a range of pharmaceutical clients on product recalls, product tampering and media management.

Nic Jarvis

Director, Corporate

Nic Jarvis has held a number of roles in corporate public relations and communications in Melbourne and Sydney for more than a decade. Prior to joining the public relations industry he worked in state and federal politics as a senior adviser.

Nic specialises in corporate communications and profiling, strategic counsel, issues and crisis management, public affairs and advising senior management and boards on major initiatives that include takeovers, launches of new products and services, management profile and investor relations.

He leads a team of strong communications professionals in Edelman’s Sydney office who provide high-level counsel to the firm’s Australian and global clients many of which are listed on the stock exchange.

Before joining Edelman Nic worked for a major Sydney-based public relations agency and has worked in large and boutique consultancies advising a wide range of clients.
